Abstract

Secondary title: The role of Human Resources development for organic farming in Podravska region
Secondary abstract: At the time of severe economic crisis The Human resource development is a strategy that with an option to help to tackle the many economic problems. The Slovenian countryside is lagging behind the urban areas in many prospects while it is less economically developed and unpromising for young people. There is quite poor educational structure of the population, it is lacking a complete infrastructure and many other problems. Traditional agriculture is due to inappropriate land structure and because of inadequate relief uncompetitive in comparison with EU countries and that is why is necessary to look for competitive strategies for development of the Slovenian countryside. In recent years new possibilities for development in organic farming appeared while on the other side we should not ignore the development of Human resources as a great importance for the restructuring of farms. Demand for organic food is increasing due to positive consumer awareness of the importance of naturally produced food. Slovenian farmers have therefore opportunity to obtain adequate financial resources as state subsidies with help of various educational programs. They need a certain knowledge to start with organic farming, which is characterized as an environmentally friendly and protects our health. In the dissertation we present the problem of Slovenian countryside, which could be solved by the appropriate Human resources development strategy. We wish to introduce a perspective, seen mainly in the production of organic food. We have presented an importance of training and education of farmers, who have the opportunity to attend and upgrade their skills and also gain invaluable experience for future production. In Research we have investigated how and where students in High Biotechnical school in Podravska region see perspective of the countryside and if they wish to remain in rural areas. We also wanted to know, what extent and in what ways the farmers who are engaged to organic farming in Podravska region, developing their theoretical and practical knowledge of organic farming.
