Secondary title: | ǂThe ǂimplant strength of three structural carbon steels |
Secondary abstract: | In the presented research work the sensitivity of three steels on cold cracking were studied using an implant test. Cold cracking appearsin the weld metalsor in the heat-affected zones, depending on which part of the weld joint ismore hardenable. The crucial factors for cold cracking are hydrogen, the hardened microstructure and the residual stresses. The implant strength is defined as the threshold stress for the appearance at no cold cracks in the coarse-grain heat-affected zone under certain condition. The implant strengths were determined on CrNiMoV steel, CrMoV steel, and SUMITEN 80 P steel under different conditions. In the presented research the lowering of the humidity in the consumable and preheating drastically increase the implant strength. |
