Secondary abstract: | In my thesis we will briefly summarize the history and development of video surveillance systems, present arguments for and against video surveillance in public places together with research and statements from both sides. We will state some of the past cases of misuse of surveillance systems by authorized personnel and cases where surveillance systems became part of the pop culture. At the end we will present some of the more grim possibilities for the future. We will see where surveillance systems without proper regulations and safety precautions could lead. |
