Abstract

Secondary title: DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURING OF A GUIDE FOR PEDICULAR SCREWS PLACEMENT
Secondary abstract: In spinal fusion surgery, a proper navigation and placement of fixation screws into the pedicle of a vertebrae is of utmost importance. In this diploma work, the development of the patient specific surgical device - guides for pedicular screws placement is described. Developed guide allows the surgeon for optimal control of the tools in the making of holes through the pedicle. This reduces the risk of spinal cord injuries, which can occur in the case miss oriented screws. The guide was developed in a cooperation between the Faculty of mechanical engineering Maribor and the University Clinical Centre of Maribor.
