Abstract

Secondary title: The risk for cardiovaskular disease in the Pomurje region
Secondary abstract: Platform: The cardiovascular diseases are still among the most common diseases of our time. It is important, therefore that people acknowledge and are aware of the dangers that arise because of unhealthy way of living which is a standard companion in our more and more busy modern way of life. This way of life has taken its toll also on the Pomurje Region which is among the most endangered areas for this type of disease to occur. Purpose: The purpose of this undergraduate thesis is to introduce the most common cardiovascular diseases and to determine by means of the research which risk factors are the most common ones among the population in the Pomurje Region. Research methodology: We have used a descriptive work method when writing the undergraduate thesis. In the empirical part of the undergraduate thesis we have used the quantitative research methodology. The research has been completed in the Pomurje Region, in Murska Sobota and in its vicinity in November 2012. We have obtained the empirical data by a questionnaire consisting of 29 research questions. The collected data have been statistically processed with the help of the software Windows 7 and with the software tools Microsoft Office. We have converted the results into per cents and have graphically displayed them. Results: By completing the research we have determined that women have a more healthy diet than men, the number of smoker is dropping and that 60% of participants have been doing physical exercises as well as the fact that the majority of people living in the Pomurje Region are exposed to stress every day. Conclusion: One of the problems of modern time is fast pace of life because of which people do not consume quality meals but instead rather eat fast food. Further, a lot of people neglect physical activity in their leisure time and a lot of them are exposed to stress on daily basis. To avoid the latter we have to take more time for ourselves and prepare more quality meals a day as well as undertake more physical activities.
