diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija Varnost in policijsko delo
Abstract

For assessing differences between genders in describing offenders of criminal act it is important to know about operation and perception of memory. In theoretical part of my thesis I have first dedicated my work to memory, its operation and memory mistakes. I have given a special emphasis to perception in whole chapter – factors influencing perception, time of event, factors of data processing and perception mistakes. In the last chapter of theoretical part I have written about influence of gender in a connection to perception, that is to say about differences of genders and influence of brains.
In empirical part I have analysed answers of Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security students given in survey questionnaire after watching video. I was interested if there were really any differences between genders in describing specific details regarding gender and if women really better memorized colours of clothes and hair of offenders and objects, whereas men better memorized cars and registration plate numbers.
In my research there were 32 participants, 19 women and 13 men. Based on analysis of survey questionnaire I have found out that there really were diffenrences between genders that is to say based on their interests. Women more memorized colours of clothes and objects of offenders whereas men better memorized cars (brands, models). Also in listing registration plate numbers men were more successful although their quotes were partial, but there is a fact that also part of registration plate numbers help in detecting offenders. Men were also more successful in describing estranged objects.
Based on gained data given through analysis I can partly confirm and refute my suppositions since there were some differences where I have not expected. |
