Abstract

Secondary title: Spiders (Arachnida: Araneae) on selected meadows of the Sub-pannonian biogeographic region of Slovenia
Secondary abstract: Arthropods represent a big portion of the species that can be found on meadow ecosystems. As predators they are a very important part of the food chain, and the food to numerous vertebrates at the same time. Studies show that spiders are bioindicators of the species diversity of land arthropods. They are a typical, numerous and very rich in species. They can be found in all continental ecosystems, particularly in meadow. Extensive grass mowing unfortunately helps reducing their population, as well as the population of plants. There are several biological factors that affect the diversity of spider. In my Graduation Thesis I defined them as the complexity of vegetation. It includes the representation of plant communities, density of vegetation, height of vegetation and its cover. The purpose of this thesis is to find the difference in biodiversity of spiders in dry and moist meadows of Sub-pannonian biogeographic region regarding the vegetation complexity. I determined that the spider's fauna in chosen locations was relatively poor because of the short sampling time: because of a limited period (only in September) and timeframe (30 minutes of sampling). We can also notice differences in spider genus regarding the type of meadows and the biological factors which were researched. The research, done on four selected areas of Sub-pannonian biogeographic region of Slovenia, proves that the biodiversity of spiders is most affected by the height and the type of meadows.
