Abstract

Secondary title: The path to pregnancy may be difficult
Secondary abstract: Background: Family planning is an integral part of the life process. But a certain percentage of the population appear reproductive disorders. In such cases is important a good awareness of the population about the problem of infertility and early action. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present in detail the problem of infertility in Slovenia and other European countries. Methodology: During creating a theoretical thesis we were helping with Slovenian and foreign literature related to the described problem. We were searched literature in the home (COBISS) and international bibliographic databases. Data were collected by analyzing primary and secondary sources and the analysis of official statistics. From these results, we selected the most relevant and use them to sumac latest research findings and insights and presented in a structured format. Thesis is a professional type, used is a descriptive method works. Results: We found out that in Slovenia the percentage of female and male infertility are the same, and that the birth rate is among the lowest in Europe. Couples, despite a wealth of information about infertility, are not adequately informed or knowledgeable about infertility issues. Discussion: The crux of the problem is that most couples nowadays planned pregnancy to the last detail, both in time, financial and career, so the way to get pregnant may be very long and mentally exhausting because of later decision for the child. There should be more information about infertility problem for the general target population and not only for infertile couples.
