Abstract

Otroci s pomočjo igrač razvijajo svoje motorične spretnosti, podoživljajo čustvene trenutke in oblikujejo želene situacije s svojo domišljijo.

Secondary title: Creative toy made of felted wool and its packaging
Secondary abstract: Toys help children develop motor skills, relive emotional moments, and create imaginary scenarios. Most toys on the market today are made of synthetic materials and vibrant colors, and few toys among them are truly interactive. Their packaging is often made of non-recyclable materials, which is a major environmental challenge today. The aim of the thesis was to develop an interactive educational toy made of felted wool, along with its packing; both are intended to enhance children’s creativity and promote development of different types of games as well as to encourage children to learn about natural materials and their colors. We designed a toy with basic building blocks of various shapes, which are surrounded by felt wool. With this toy, children can let their imagination run wild and transform it into any product, essentially creating their own forms of play. At the same time we designed packaging made of recycled materials containing a graphic representation in a short story, with the intention of teaching children about the process of wool felting. The packaging encourages children to create and therefore does not become waste, but the subject of a game as well. The toy and its packaging have been given to children without instructions how to play with it or how to use it. It was observed that while playing with this toy and its packaging, children develop perceptive, constructive, creative, and imaginative play in which they learn about natural materials, the wool felting process , and develop an understanding of the packaging as a useful item. With the thesis we accomplished these goals, which we believe to be a step in the right direction for furthering sustainable design of didactic toys.
