Abstract

Windows 8 je eden od novejših različic operacijskega sistema podjetja Microsoft. Vsaka različica izide z namenom, da izboljša delovanje predhodne različice, vendar se vsaka ne izkaže kot najboljša možna nadomestitev. Glavni cilj naše diplomske je razumeti pojem operacijski sistem in njegovo delovanje ter spoznati operacijski sistem Windows 8 in nadgradnjo Windows 8.1 in se osredotočili na njegove novosti ter tiste, ki so osvežene. Windows 8 smo primerjali z njegovim predhodnikom Windows 7 s pomočjo brezplačnih orodij za testiranje na spletu. Testirali smo zmogljivosti celotnega sistema in njegove specifikacije (tj. nameščanje, zagon in zaustavitev, grafično zmogljivost, pomnilnik, branje in zapisovanje diska, avtonomijo baterije, nameščena orodja, prenos in brisanje datotek). S primerjavo se je izkazalo, da različica Windows 8 vsebuje novosti, vendar včasih te ne pripomorejo k učinkovitejšemu delovanju.

Secondary abstract:	Windows 8 is one of the newer versions of the operating system of the company Microsoft. Every version comes out to improve working of the previous one, however, each one does not prove the best possible replacement. The main purpose of the diploma thesis is to understand the term operating system and its working and to know the operating system Windows 8 and the upgrading Windows 8.1 and to focus on its novelties and the ones which are updated. We compared Windows 8 with its predecessor Windows 7 with the help of free tools for testing on the web. We tested the performance of the whole system and its specifications (setting, start-up and shutdown, graphic performance, computer data storage, reading and writing of the disc, autonomy of the battery, placed tools, transmission and deletion of files). When we made a comparison, we found out that Windows 8 includes novelties, however, they sometimes do not aid in the improvement.
