magistrska naloga

Abstract

Zajeti vzorec N = 300 anket so izpolnjevali starši otrok vključenih v štiri koroške vrtce in en prekmurski vrtec. Ankete smo obdelali s pomočjo deskriptivne in inferenčne statistike ([hi] ^ 2 preizkus).

Secondary title: PERENTS' OPINIONS ON THE ADVISABILITY OF INTRODUCING MATHEMATICAL CONTENT TO PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION
Secondary abstract: In the master's thesis, the parental knowledge of the content of mathematics during pre-school education, some areas of parental involvement in the acquisition of mathematical content and the parental attitude towards mathematics during the education, are investigated. Also, an insight into the mathematically aimed activities that parents play or exercise with their children in their free time, is given. In the first part of the thesis, the content of mathematics that already the kindergarten children are supposed to acquire, is presented. Since this content is not specifically defined in Kindergarten Curriculum - Kurikulum za vrtce (Bahovec et al., 1999), the Curriculum for Primary Schools - Učni načrt za osnovne šole (Žakelj et al., 2011) was used as an aid. Some theoretical foundations of the parental involvement in the development of children's mathematical skills are summarized as well. In the empirical part, the results of a survey among parents are presented. A sample of N = 300 surveys was responded by parents of children enrolled in four Carinthian and one Prekmurje kindergartens. The surveys were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics ([chi] ^ 2 test). The research has shown that the parents' education strongly influences their opinion on the advisability of introducing mathematical content in kindergarten, their ability to identify the diverse content of mathematics that kindergarten children are supposed to acquire, their opinion on the play with mathematical aims and also their attitude towards mathematics during education. In the practical part, the activities from all areas of mathematics, that were carried out in the school year 2012/2013 in Mežica Kindergarten with the group of children aged 4-5 within the Ta zanimiva matematika ("This interesting mathematics") project, are presented. In conclusion, we wish to emphasize that, with a proper approach, good motivation, positive emotional climate and sufficient substantial material, activities from all content can be carried out, thus enabling the children to gain as much experience as possible that will help them in future learning and acquisition of more challenging mathematical content.
