Abstract

V tem diplomskem seminarju je obravnavana tema računalništvo v oblaku in sicer na primeru storitve iCloud podjetja Apple Inc., ki je namenjena vsem uporabnikom Applovih produktov(računalnikov in mobilnih naprav). V prvem delu smo podrobneje predstavili teorijo računalništva v oblaku, ki predstavlja novo tehnologijo, s katero je uporabnikom (podjetjem in posameznikom) omogočeno shranjevanje podatkov v splet in dostopanje do njih kadarkoli in kjerkoli s katerokoli napravo enostavno s pomočjo aplikacije ali pa preko spletnega brskalnika. Podjetje navadno uporablja računalništvo v oblaku preko ponudnikov teh storitev, torej je računalništvo v oblaku v večini primerov predmet zunanjega izvajanja. Računalništvo v oblaku je sestavljeno iz mnogih podrobnosti ter manjših sklopov različnih tehnologij, tako da ga ne moremo opisati in predstaviti zgolj z definicijami, ampak moramo prav tako spoznati delitev na tri osnovne modele, ki so Infrastruktura kot storitev, Platforma kot storitev in Programska oprema kot storitev, uporabnike in podjetja pa seznaniti z možnostjo izbiranja med štirimi vrstami računalniških oblakov, in sicer med »javnim«, »zasebnim«, »skupnostnim« in pa »hibridnim« oblakom. Ker je ta sodobni koncept tehnologije deležen zmeraj večjega povpraševanja in zanimanja, predvsem zaradi podjetjem zelo mikavnega razloga – nižanja stroškov, pa je treba predvideti tudi slabosti in nevarnosti prehoda na takšno poslovanje. V drugem delu je predmet opazovanja storitev iCloud podjetja Apple Inc. Storitev smo sprva opredelili in predstavili zgodovino razvoja. Podrobneje smo predstavili vsako izmed funkcij, ki so namenjene uporabnikom in raziskali prednosti ter slabosti delovanja celotnega sistema. Spoznali pa smo, da je iCloud storitev, ki je trenutno najbolje konstruirana, uporabnikom najprijaznejša, najenostavnejša za uporabo, ter med drugim tudi zelo varna. Ker se računalništvo v oblaku iz dneva v dan spreminja in izpopolnjuje, smo poiskali tudi nekaj novosti, ki se bližajo in bodo implementirane v prihodnosti. Za zaključek pa smo opozorili, na katere elemente bi podjetja morala posebej paziti pri odločanju za ustreznega ponudnika storitev v oblaku.

Secondary abstract: In this diploma seminar, the addressed theme is cloud computing on iCloud case study. iCloud is cloud computing service which is provided by Apple Inc. and intended for all Apple products users (such as computers and mobile devices). In the first part of the diploma seminar, we presented in details the theory of cloud computing, which is presenting a new technology that allows users (busnisses and individuals) to store the data online and access it anytime, anywhere with any type of device, simply by using the application or through a Web browser. The companies typically use cloud computing via cloud services providers, which makes the cloud services in most cases the subject of outsourcing. Cloud computing is composed of many details and small sets of different technologies, so it can not be presented and described simply with the use of definitions, but we also need to know the division into three basic models, which are Infrastructure as a service or IaaS, Platform as a service or PaaS, Software as a service or SaaS, and we need to make the consumers and businesses aware of being able to choose between four types of cloud computing: Private cloud, Public cloud, Community cloud and Hybrid cloud. Since this modern concept of technology is enjoying growing interest and demand which is mainly caused by a very tempted reason – cost reduction, it is also necessary to take a closer look to the disadvantages and risks of the transition to such business process. In the second part, the subject of observation are iCloud services, provided by very successful company named Apple Inc. At first we defined and introduced iCloud service together with the history of its evolution. Then we specifically presented each one of the contained functions, and explored the strengths and weaknesses of the entire system. We realized that the iCloud service temporarily holds the title of the best-designed, user-friendly and most easy-to-use cloud service for individual users, and it also provides high level of security for all of your data. Because of a constant improvements and changes in cloud computing, we also did a research and found a few new features that are approaching and will be implemented in the near future. In conclusion, we pointed out some of the most important elements which should be explored with particular attention when considering the relevant cloud provider, who should meet our expectations.
