doktorska disertacija
Abstract
V doktorski disertaciji razvijemo hibridno metodologijo EPUI, namenjeno načrtovalcem interakcij vseprisotnih sistemov.

Integrating users in the interaction design of ubiquitous systems |
Secondary abstract: |
In the doctoral dissertation we present a hybrid methodology called EPUI that serves interaction designers in the domain of ubiquitous computing. The methodology serves as a link between participatory design (PD) and interactiondesign of ubiquitous systems. It helps designers integrate users asactive participants in all of the design phases, from conceptualization to prototype development and user testing. The methodology serves as a top layer process that works together with existing design and development processes. Its goal is especially to establish a platform for collaboration which enablesproductive participatory design. The methodology consists of four non-linear phases: explore, participate, understanding and integration. Together with the methodology we developed a set of concrete methods and toolsfor participatory design with all key stakeholders. Integral part of the methodology are especially active participation, both users and designers, andimplementation of game elements in the design practice. We tested the methodology in four separate experiments where we, together with the stakeholders, developed user interfaces for various ubiquitous systems. The results showed an improved user experience as well as reducing the amount of resources needed for development of the final product. |
