Abstract
Poštne znamke ne predstavljajo le potrdila plačane denarne protivrednosti za storitev prenosa poštnih pošiljk, temveč so tudi kulturni in umetniški fenomen ter predstavljajo enega izmed najbolj prepoznavnih vizualnih simbolov nacionalne kulture. Ker so poštne znamke vizualni produkti države, je velika pozornost posvečena izbiri motivov in simboličnih sporočil na poštnih znamkah. Prav tako poštne znamke prispevajo k izgradnji nacionalne kulturne identitete, kolektivnega spomina ter podobe države, ki se projicira zunaj njenih mej. Skozi preučevanje poštnih znamk lahko spremljamo spremembe v posameznih družbeno-političnih sistemih, načine reprezentacije posameznih družbeno-političnih sistemov ter vrednote povezane s kolektivno identiteto.

Postage stamps do not only represent a confirmation of paid cash equivalent of postal services, but also are a cultural and artistic phenomenon, and represent one of the most recognized visual symbols of national culture. Since postage stamps are visual products of the state, a great deal of attention is given to the selection of motifs and symbolic messages on postage stamps. Also, postage stamps contribute to the building of national cultural identity, collective memory and the image of the state that is projected beyond its borders. Through the study of postage stamps we can monitor changes in the socio-political systems, methods of representing certain socio-political systems and values associated with the collective identity. |
