Abstract

Secondary title: DETERMINATION OF HEAVY METALS WITH MASS SPECTROSCOPY USING INDUCTIVELY COUPLED PLASMA
Secondary abstract: Certain air pollution measurements need to be carried out due to the limited allowance of releasing the unwanted substances into the air, which must be in accordance with the law. These measurements serve as a report to the Slovenian Environment Agency. Stationary sources of pollution in the chemical industry also cause some metal emissions that must be controlled because of the limited allowances of releases. We measured the concentration of selected metals at the Talum factory area. With microwave digestion, we started the optimization of the analytical procedure, followed by ICP-MS analysis. Based on these measurements, we determined some parameters of validation. Additionally, we examined and compared the results of measurements, which were made in both the Talum’s Institute, and the Institute of Public Health Maribor. The results showed that the introduced method is precise and accurate for the majority of selected metals, which therefore corresponds to the standards of validation. Comparative analysis showed resemblance of measurements as well as some deviations.
