Abstract

Bolniki so motivirani za zdrav način življenja, v največji meri so spremenili prehranjevalne navade, prilagodili so fizično aktivnost svojim zmožnostim, zmanjšali so stres.

Secondary abstract: Teoretical basis: With every cronic illnes, one of the most important things next to all the troubles connected with it is the quality of the patient s life. The most important factor of the quality of life of a cronic pacient is the individual s health. Patients with ulcerative colitis are sorted into the group of cronic patients who have a very limited quality of life. The self-image of the patients is often ehorse than prior to the disease, they do not deale only with pain but olso with psychological and social consequences of it; that is why they are usually less actice, not only physically but also socially, becouse of the different problems brought on by the disease. An important role in treating a patients goes to the nurse, especially with health-educational work. Methodology and research: The method that we used was descriptive; information was acquired with an anonymous questionnarie which included 19 questions of the open, half-open and closed type. 20 patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis helped with the research, they are receving treatment in the gastroenterological clinic in the Celje General Hospital. The information that we got was illustrated with graphs and computer processed. Research has take place in may and july 2012. Results: The results of the research have shown that patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis face most of their problems at work and with social interactions, like making friends and supporting family. Patients are motivated for a healthy lifestyle; most of them have changed their eating habits, adjusted physical activity to their capabilities and lowered the stress levels in their life. The most frequent factors that bring out a second fit of the diesease are stressful situations and specific types of food. Discussion: It is important that patients learn to accept their disease, learn about it, learn to live with it and try to follow the guidelines for healthy lifestyle. Every person is different, which is why they have to choose for themselves, the best way to relax and eliminate signs of illness and stress, and ensure their inner balance.
