Abstract

Diplomsko delo z naslovom Uporaba medijev pri pouku angleščine na nižji stopnji osnovne šole v prvem teoretičnem delu predstavi uporabo angleščine kot prvega tujega jezika na nižji stopnji OŠ, vključevanje posameznega medija v proces poučevanja, vlogo učiteljev pri uporabi določenega medija, in s tem vpliva posameznega medija na splošno znanje učencev nižjih razredov osnovnih šol. Namen empiričnega dela v diplomskega dela je raziskati dejavnike, ki vplivajo na uporabo avdio- in avdiovizualnih medijev pri učenju angleščine kot tujega jezika ter analizirati pogostost uporabe posameznega medija pri poučevanju. Uporabili smo deskriptivno in kavzalno-ne eksperimentalno metodo pedagoškega raziskovanja. Vzorec je obsegal 46 učiteljev angleškega jezika na nižji stopnji osnovne šole. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da učitelji aktivno vključujejo medije v izobraževalni proces angleškega jezika v nižjih razredih osnovne šole. Večina učiteljev le-te uporablja večkrat tedensko pri pouku. Najpogosteje jih uporabijo z namenom, da učencem predstavijo učno snov natančno in nazorno. Računalnik in internet sta medija, ki ga mlajši učitelji najpogosteje uporabijo pri pouku na nižjih stopnjah, medtem ko sta CD in DVD predvajalnik medija, ki ga pogosteje uporabljajo starejši učitelji. Tendence kažejo, da je uporaba kasetofona vse manj uporabna. Večina učiteljev meni, da je opremljenost osnovnih šol z določenimi mediji dobra in da uporaba določenega medija prispeva k boljšemu znanju učencev.

Secondary abstract: The following diploma thesis with the title 'Media Use in English Classrooms in Primary Schools' presents, in the first, theoretical part, teaching foreign languages to young learners - Secondly, it also introduces the use of media in the teaching process, the role of teachers, and the influence of media on general knowledge of pupils in primary schools. However, the purpose of the empirical part of this thesis was to establish the factors that influence the use of audio and audiovisual media in teaching English as the first foreign language, and to analyse the frequency of using particular media in teaching English. We used descriptive and non-experimental method of pedagogical research. The sample comprised 46 teachers of English in primary schools. The results of the research have shown that teachers actively use media in the process of teaching English to young learners, aged 6-8. Media are most often used to present the vocabulary and grammar to pupils. Computer and internet are the media that are most often used by younger English teachers whereas older teachers prefer to use CD and DVD players. The use of cassette players is in decline for it lack of functionality. The majority of teachers believe that primary schools are sufficiently equipped with media and that using media in the teaching process improves the knowledge of English.
