Secondary abstract: | The thesis presents the impact of steel ductility on the safety of steel structures. The focus is set on the behavior of steel structures in case of fire and earthquake. The thesis presents the role of steel and steel structures throughout history. It interprets the concept of ductility and its importance for steel. The base of this thesis consists of a brief study on the impact of ductility on the stability of steel structures at high temperatures (fire) and cyclic loads (earthquake). In the thesis are also described the positive and negative characteristics of steel ductility, as well as basic guidelines to ensure the stability of the structure. |
