diplomsko delo
Abstract

IMPACT OF HUMANS ON THE NATURAL WATER CYCLE |
Secondary abstract: |
Water circulation in nature, a process that has crucial importance in sustaining life on Earth, has already become a subject of discussion on primary level of education. In examining this process, we have to be aware of the fact that this is one of the most complex natural systems, as each process within the system is affected by a variety of different factors, whose changes may cause differences in the system. We were dealing with questions of human influence on water circulation in nature, pupils' comprehension of water circulation as well as the differences in their understanding of the system. This thesis consists of theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part presents water circulation in nature, human influence on water circulation and deals with the question of increased environmental pollution as well as its possible effect on the system in the near future. We mainly focused on significance of water, its supply and pollution. Because of the crucial importance of water, our main focus in the empirical part was to show how 4th, 5th and 8th grade pupils' understand processes of water circulation and especially human influence on the system. Although the water circulation is a learning material for 5th graders, the results of questionnaire have shown that the pupils on primary level understand the process very well and have answered correctly on more complex questions, which exceeded our expectations. Pupils in the 8th grade have shown better results in answering questions that involve some logical thinking and were about other planets in the solar system. |
