diplomsko delo
Abstract

Levstik Prize is the first of its kind of confirmations of youth literature in our country. The thesis presents the development and history of awarding Levstik Prizes, which are recognitions of a quality youth literature, awarded since 1949. It is a prize awarded by a publisher Mladinska knjiga (the primary purpose of the publisher was to publish the best works in children's and youth literature), launched in order to promote writers and illustrators for young readers. In its central part, the thesis presents the youth literary opus of seven winners of Levstik Prize for life time achievement in the field of original fiction that has been awarded since 1999. It was first awarded to Kristina Brenkova, who had worked for many years in Mladinska knjiga and was its first editor of youth literature. Her literary opus begins with "Deklica Delfina in lisica zvitorepka', which also brought her respective award. In 2001 Kajetan Kovič received Levstik Prize for a lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction for his youth works; his picture book "Pajacek in punčka' received Levstik Prize in 1985. Tone Pavček, who had already with his first publications earned a reputation of a classic, received Levstik Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction in 2003, his "Juri Muri v Afriki" had seen countless reprints and received Levstik Prize (1958), which was in 1961 followed by another, namely for a collection of "Velesenzacija". Dane Zajc (he received Levstik Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction in 2005) received Levstik Prize in 1977 for a collection of "Abesedarija" in which each poem presents a new idea. With Niko Grafenauer, who received Levstik Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction in 2007, it all started with "Pedenjped" and continued with the collection of poems "Nebotičniki, sedite" and "Majhnica", for which he received Levstik Prizes in 1980 and 1987. Polonca Kovač received Levstik Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction in 2009 for her excellent opus of fairy-fantastic stories. The awardee of Levstik Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction (2011), Svetlana Makarovič, received the Levstik Prize already for her first collection of fairy tales "Miška spi" in 1973, which was followed by another Levstik Prize for her books "Kam, kam kosovirja?", "Kosovirja na leteči žlici" and "Pekarna Mišmaš" (1975). Neža Maurer received Levstik Prize for lifetime achievement in the field of original fiction in 2013. Thus, with its long tradition, Mladinska knjiga still holds the initiative of qualitative reading. |
