Secondary title: | ENHANCING COHERENT REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE POMURJE REGION |
Secondary abstract: | Slovenia is known for major development differences among individual regions. Regionalisation represents one of the key measures for overcoming the differences among regions. In 1999 Slovenia adopted the Promotion of Balanced Regional Development Act and thus decided for a regional politics reform. This year stands for a turning point in Slovene regional politics since the later started to manage interregional differences in Slovenia more eagerly and systematically. A network of regional institutions was introduced and the government began to allocate various forms of regional incentives. The development of the region of Pomurje is lagging behind the most among all Slovene statistic regions. In order to enhance development policies in the Pomurje region the Law on development support to the Pomurje region in the period 2010 - 2015 for the resolution of development problems was adopted. The adoption of the before mentioned law established an institutional and financial frame for intervention action in the region of Pomurje. In the thesis I will put emphasis on the legislative regulation of regional development in Slovenia and the Pomurje region, which is as mentioned before the least developed region. |
