Abstract

Nosečnostna sladkorna bolezen predstavlja pomemben zdravstveni problem.

Secondary title: TREATMENT OF THE PATIENT WITH GESTATIONAL DIABETES AND THE ROLE OF THE NURSE
Secondary abstract: Gestational diabetes poses a serious health problem. It presents a risk factor that can generate complications during pregnancy. If the condition is not discovered on time the consequences of non-treatment can be fatal for the developing foetus. The main aim of gestational diabetes treatment is maintaining blood sugar levels within normal values. Patients suffering from gestational diabetes have the same possibilities to give birth to a healthy child as the pregnant women not suffering from the disease do, provided the diabetes is treated in an appropriate manner during their pregnancy.
