Abstract

V raziskavi so sodelovali člani omenjenega Društva in Skupine. Pridobljene podatke smo obdelali in uredili s pomočjo programov Microsoft Word in Microsoft.

Secondary title: Specifics of communication with oncology patients
Secondary abstract: Starting points: A good communication is the basis for a quality care of oncological patients and it helps us to recognise physical and emotional changes in patients with severe or incurable diseases, which could be very important in finding the best solutions for them. In addition, with kind and emphatic relationship and communication we can positively influence on the well-being and contentment of the patients. The purpose of the thesis was to present the specifics in communication with oncological patients. Methodology: In the empirical part of the thesis, the quantitative method was used. We performed a study. An anonymous questionnaire with, 18 closed typed questions was used. In study participated 35 members of The Velenje Association for the Fight against Cancer and by The Velenje Support Group for Patients with Cancer. The data was analysed and organised with Microsoft Office programs. Results: The study showed that oncological patients are mostly satisfied with the attitude of medical staff towards them. They get the most valuable information from the doctors. The patients appreciate kindness, professional attitude, positivity, honesty and respect for privacy that is shown from the nurses. Discussion and conclusion: We can conclude that the communication with the oncological patients is in general good. One of the biggest problems, according to the study results, was unclear and incomprehensible information given from the nurses. It is very important to understand the importance of a good communication with oncological patients, which leads to trust worthy and respectful relationship with patients, better interactions, well-being and satisfaction of patients and it is also shown in a positive treatment outcome.
