Abstract

Secondary title: Energy supply for peacekeeping operations
Secondary abstract: Energy supply on peacekeeping operations and missions is not self-evident, it needs to be planned on a daily basis and the energy sources need to be brought to troops in bases. In majority, solders on missions use fuel as the main energy source. However we all know that fuels are limited and will run out in the future. Therefore, individual countries as well as NATO are increasingly looking for energy-efficient resources and technological processes and adequate substitutes for fuels. Peacekeeping operations and missions are usually carried out in areas which have poorly developed road infrastructure and electric networks. Moreover road convoys are often attacked by extremists. Energy efficiency has become a necessity in the economy as well as in the armed forces. That is why NATO successfully introduces new energy-efficient solutions for peacekeeping operations and missions. In the thesis the process of the supply of energy products and electricity in peacekeeping operations is demonstrated. Modern technological solutions to reduce energy consumption and alternatives are explored, and different procedures and solutions to increase energy efficiency are proposed.
