Abstract

Največji problem tipičnega srednjeevropskega mesta so močni prometni tokovi, slabo stanje cest, slaba kakovost javnega potniškega prometa in neprimerna infrastruktura za kolesarski in pešpromet.

Secondary title: Arrangements for sustainable urban mobility for passengers in the municipality of Ptuj
Secondary abstract: More and more cities are facing a significant increase in road traffic, as many people decide to use their own motorised transport rather than sustainable forms of transport. It has become more difficult to ensure the safety and health of people, as well as limiting air pollution in cities due to the increasing number of private motorised vehicles on the roads. The biggest problems of a typical Central-European city are strong traffic flows, poor road conditions, poor quality of public transportation and improper infrastructure for cycling and walking. The quality of living in cities has worsened, since the increased number of cars endangers the safety of people, while the emissions of greenhouse gasses not only cause pollution, but also threaten people’s safety. In the thesis we focused on transport issues in the Municipality of Ptuj. With a research of the existing situation, we have found that much has to be done in the field of sustainable development in the Municipality of Ptuj. This was also confirmed by the results of our survey, which was conducted among the residents of Ptuj. It is necessary that direct and safe cycling routes are arranged, since they are in a very poor condition; at the same time all the necessary infrastructure needs to be provided, such as bicycle shelters. The same applies to pedestrian traffic, which is in somewhat better condition than cycling traffic. However, there are many things to be fixed in this area, having mainly in mind the city centre and the pedestrian zone. The introduction and the arrangement of public transport in the Municipality of Ptuj are mandatory, since Ptuj currently does not have a city bus.
