Abstract

V diplomskem delu najprej opravimo kratek pregled različnih metod hierarhičnega stiskanja videa ter diskretne valčne transformacije, ki je ključna pri formatih, kot sta Motion JPEG 2000 in Dirac. Hierarhično kodranje nam bistveno pospeši dekodiranje, kadar želimo video predvajati pri nižji ločljivosti. V praktičnem delu implementiramo aplikacijo, ki ima možnost shranjevanja in predvajanja videa v formatu Motion JPEG 2000, ter primerjamo zmogljivost hierarhičnih kodekov v različnih ločljivostih z nehierarhičnimi kodeki.

Secondary abstract: In this thesis, we perform a brief overview of different methods of hierarchical video coding and discrete wavelet transformation, which is key to formats such as Motion JPEG 2000 and Dirac.Hierarchical coding significantly accelerates the decoding when we want to play the video at a lower resolution. Practical part consists of implementation of an application which can encode and decode Motion JPEG 2000 files, and comparison of performance between hierarchical codecs at different resolutions and non-hierarchical codecs.
