Secondary title: | WORKS COUNCIL |
Secondary abstract: | Employee is the weaker party in the employment relationship and can not always efficiently protect his own interests. As a result, different ways of protecting and promoting employee's interests were developed and one of them is also workers’ participation in decision-making. Works council is a fundamental form of collective worker participation in decision-making and allows the inclusion of employees in making important economic, social and human resource decisions in a specific establishment. Slovenia has dual channel representation which means that there can be both a works council and a trade union in place at the establishment and that is why it is very important that there is a certain functional division of fields of representation in place. The question of efficiency effects of codetermination is often raised. There are several foreign and some Slovenian pieces of research available regarding this topic. The aim of this thesis is to explain the regulation of codetermination and to present the works council, define its relationship with trade unions and analyze its impact on business performance. |
