Abstract

Korektna informiranost državljanov na področju možnosti darovanja in prejemanja človepških organov je ključna za uspešnost mreže darovalcev in prejemnikov človeških organov.

Secondary title: POSTHUMOUS ORGAN DONATION
Secondary abstract: Real needs to assist fellow men in all areas are arising in this modern world, fraught with humanism and a sense of fellow men. The explosive development of medicine has brought about a new opportunity for biomedicine to benefit man. Posthumous organ donation constitutes one of the most recent ways of helping fellow men. The bachelor thesis illustrates how willing people are to engage in this kind of humanitarian activity. Related projects are supported by biomedical legislation and related statutory instruments. Proper information of citizens with regard to the option of donating or receiving human organs is of key importance if the human organ donor and recipient network is to succeed. Transparency and traceability are facilitated by the Slotransplant system, which is connected with the European Eurotransplant system. A small survey sought to establish how well the Slovenian population is familiar with and is ready for new challenges biomedicine is facing. An analysis of the survey results shows that Slovenia does not lag behind the average results in the Western world when it comes to the willingness to donate organs. Leaving aside issues related to surgical and ethnic aspects, this leaves only one aspect of greater relevance: the legal one, which, however, is basically dependent on the organisation of society, state management system and societal climate. Societal climate with regard to organ transplantation and level of familiarity with the prescribed rules (law) can, in most cases, be merely verified by directly surveying the population. There is a considerable discrepancy between theoretical and practical aspects of organ donation. The real response of donors in practice is often marked by considerably worse results, for which our society and education, that too often see organ donation as an abstract concept that can simply never happen to us, is to blame. The high-quality organ donation legal regime provides us with a greater level of safety and personal integrity.
