Abstract

Secondary title: GUIDELINES FOR INJECTION MOULDING TOOL DESIGN
Secondary abstract: The following graduate seminar provides guidelines for plastic injection moulding tool design. In the introductory chapter, the basic theoretical knowledge necessary for problem comprehension is presented. The terminology and technology of processes are thoroughly explained throughout the seminar and adapted to the reader with some former technical knowledge and familiarity of injection moulding process. Guidelines for tool design and instructions for elimination of common defects during the process are given in the seminar. In conclusion of the seminar, a finished product from the real local industrial environment is represented. The simulations display deformations that occur during the procedure of plastic injection moulding. In the CAD program SolidWorks, the product is optimized by the recommendations presented in the theoretical guidelines. Reformed product is re-simulated and the analysis of improvements is performed. The analysis shows good results, which justifies the design changes of the product.
