Abstract

V teoretičnem delu so podrobneje predstavljeni nezvestoba, intimnost, strah pred intimnostjo ter integrativni model medosebnih odnosov. Zanimale so nas razlike med zvestimi in nezvestimi posamezniki v izraženosti objektnih odnosov, strahu pred intimnostjo, zadovoljstvom s sedanjim odnosom in permisivnostjo stališč do nezvestobe. V vzorec je bilo vključenih 337 udeležencev, od tega 13,1-odstotkov moških in 86,9-odstotkov žensk. Udeleženci so bili stari od 18 do 30 let, povprečna starost je bila 23,39 let (Std. Dev = 2,55). Raziskava je pokazala, da so posamezniki, ki so že bili nezvesti, bolj nagnjeni k nezvestobi, imajo višje izražen strah pred intimnostjo in bolj permisivna stališča do nezvestobe. Druga ključna ugotovitev je ta, da je za nezveste posameznike bolj značilna izraženost poddimenzij (Simbiotično zlivanje, Narcisizem, Egocentrizem, Strah pred požrtjem) in dimenzije Testa objektnih odnosov (Zagledanost vase). Pokazala se je pozitivna povezanost strahu pred intimnostjo z nagnjenostjo k nezvestobi in nekaterimi poddimenzijami (Simbiotično zlivanje, Egocentrizem, Strah pred požrtjem, Socialna izolacija) in dimenzijami (Odvisnost, Zagledanost vase, Odtujenost) Testa objektnih odnosov.

Secondary title: INFIDELITY IN RELATION TO INTIMACY AND OBJECT RELATIONS THEORY
Secondary abstract: Infidelity is one of the most hurtful experiences in a partnership. Individuals often ask themselves why things led to this event in first place. Above all, this survey investigates the connection between infidelity and fear of intimacy, as well of the the dimensions of object relations. In the theoretical part of the thesis, infidelity, intimacy, fear of intimacy, and the integrative model of interpersonal relationships are defined in more detail. The focus was put on the differences between faithful and unfaithful individuals in terms of object relations, fear of intimacy, satisfaction with their current relationship, and a permissive view of infidelity. The sample was composed of 337 participants, of which 13.1 percent were male and 86.9 percent female. The participants were aged 18 to 30 and their average age was 23.39 years (SD = 2.55). The survey showed that individuals who have already been unfaithful are more prone to infidelity, have a much more pronounced fear of intimacy, and take a permissive view of infidelity. The second key finding is that unfaithful individuals are more characterized by sub-dimensions (Symbiotic merging, Narcissism, Egocentricity, and Fear of engulfment) and the dimensions of the Test of Object Relations (Self-absorption) expressed. A positive correlation was identified between the fear of intimacy with a tendency towards infidelity and certain sub-dimensions (Symbiotic merging, Egocentricity, Fear of engulfment and Social isolation) and dimensions (Dependency, Self-absorption, Alienation) of the Test of Object Relations.
