Abstract
Dali smo jim vprašalnik osebnostnih lastnosti BFI, vprašalnik socioseksualne usmerjenosti, dve lestvici odnosa do nezvestobe in lestvico zadovoljstva s partnerskim odnosom.

Connections between personality traits and infidelity in the partnership/martial relationships |
Secondary abstract: |
Infidelity in partner relationships and marriage is one of the main reasons for the disintegration of relationships. Therefore, we decided to investigate it and find out what factors cause it and what personality traits individuals who cheat their partner, have. A research was undertaken in order to figure out which personality traits are predictors of participation in outer partnership relations and which are consequential differences between loyal and disloyal participants in the study. In the theoretical part we presented the relevant theoretical foundations, based on which we did a study and then defined and examined all 5 personality traits. The study included 232 participants, aged from 17 to 66 years. We gave them a questionnaire of personality traits BFI, a questionnaire of sociosexual orientation, two scales of attitude towards infidelity and a scale of satisfaction with a partner relationship. The results show that mostly there are no statistically significant links between personal traits and infidelity or these links are weak. The study showed that men participate in a greater extent in outer partnership relations than women, that people who feel a greater commitment and dedication to their partner rarely cheat on them, but also that their partnership relations are more long-term. We also found out that dissatisfaction is one of the main reasons for infidelity, our well-being in a partnership is namely very important for a healthy relationship. The worse a person feels with their partner, the greater the chance that he or she will be unfaithful. Results and findings in many places do not confirm the hypotheses and in some cases, do not correspond with studies and literature. This phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that most participants did not cheat on their partner, many of them are also single, so the results were obtained on the basis of a small sample of participants. |
