Abstract

Osrednja tema raziskave je bila vezana na ugotavljanje povezave med empatijo in zadovoljstvom z življenjem srednješolcev. Naš namen je bil tudi identificirati čimveč dejavnikov, ki bi lahko bili povezani z omenjenima konceptoma. Preverili smo, koliko časa dijaki preživljajo s svojimi prijatelji, v kolikšni meri se čutijo povezane z ostalimi dijaki v razredu, kakšno povprečje ocen dosegajo, koliko berejo in kakšna je izobrazba njihovih staršev. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 387 dijakov prvih in tretjih letnikov iz štirih srednjih šol v Mariboru. Za ugotavljanje empatije posameznikov je bil uporabljen vprašalnik IRI (Interpersonal Reactivity Index), za določanje stopnje zadovoljstva z življenjem pa lestvica SWLS (Satisfaction With Life Scale). Osrednja ugotovitev je, da obstaja povezava posamičnega vidika empatije, t.j. osebne prizadetosti, s splošnim zadovoljstvom z življenjem. Pokazalo se je več povezav med različnimi komponentami empatije s posameznimi vidiki zadovoljstva z življenjem dijakov, kot so zadovoljstvo z družabnim življenjem in materialnim stanjem. Raziskava odpira nova vprašanja v povezavi s smiselnostjo spodbujanja empatije med dijaki in pomaga odkrivati načine za več zadovoljstva med dijaki srednjih šol.

Secondary title: Empathy and life satisfaction among secondary school students
Secondary abstract: The main topic of the study was to ascertain whether there exists a correlation between secondary school student%s level of empathy and their satisfaction with life. The aim was to identify as many factors as possible that could be connected to the aforementioned concepts. The study examined how much time students spend with their friends, to what extent they feel connected with fellow students in class, their grade average, how much they read, and their parent%s education level. The study included 387 secondary school students in their first and third year from schools in Maribor. To assess the individual%s empathy the IRI questionnaire (Interpersonal Reactivity Index) was used, and the SWLS scale (Satisfaction With Life Scale) to determine their rate of satisfaction with life. The key finding is that a correlation between the individual empathy aspect of individual distress and general satisfaction with life does exist. Many connections were also found between the different components of empathy and the individual aspects of the student%s satisfaction with life, e.g. satisfaction with their social life and material state. This study introduces new questions related to the importance of promoting empathy among students and helps to discover ways to raise the satisfaction level of secondary school students.
