Abstract

Secondary title: BEHAVIOUR OF TIMBER-GLASS COMPOSITES WITH SILICONE ADHESIVE UNDER CONSTANT LOAD
Secondary abstract: This master thesis deals with research theme, which is a part of a follow-up project regarding load-bearing timber glass composites within the past EU program WoodWisdom-Net. Master thesis deals with silicone rubber as an adhesive between glass and timber parts. By long-term load is important to understand a response of the material under a constant load and permanent displacements in the structure, which can cause failure. The main aim of this master thesis is to determinate the maximum constant shear load, which does not lead to the failure of the adhesive. In the experimental study we studied the behaviour of silicone (OTTOCOLL®S 660) on 82 small timber-glass specimens by a constant shear stress loading. During 1 year investigation we carried out shear and creep tests at controlled variable climate. Results of the analysis showed that creep of silicone adhesive reduces the shear strength and shear modulus. Controlled variable climate accelerates creep of the adhesive. We calculated 53 % higher value of modification factor for long-term behaviour of adhesives as according to ETAG 002.
