Abstract

Metodologija raziskovanja: Za opredelitev teoretičnih stališč smo uporabili domačo in tujo strokovno literaturo. V empiričnem delu diplomskega dela smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela. Izvedli smo študijo primera, zanjo uporabili polstrukturiran intervju v katerega so bili vključeni starostnik in svojci.

Secondary title: TREATMENT OF AN ELDERLY PERSON WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a respiratory disease that occurs as a result of long-term smoking, exposure to harmful environmental hazards or genetic factors. It is characterized by a progressive and irreversible obstruction of the respiratory tract, with symptoms such as chronic and productive cough and dyspnoea upon exertion, which over the years progresses, along whit new accompanying symptoms, to the point that the already complex treatment becomes even more difficult. Methodology: For the definition of theoretical positions, we used domestic and foreign literature. In the empirical part of the thesis we used the descriptive method. We conducted a case study, in which we used the interview technique that involved an elderly and his relatives. Results: With the case study we highlighted the following nursing diagnoses: breathing, ineffective breathing pattern; airways, ineffective cleaning; exchange of gases, incomplete; liquid, low volume; constipation, the risk for constipation; activities, the inability for physical activity level 1; the risk of falling; the risk of infection (respiratory system, skin); deflection (smoking cessation); helplessness, the risk for helplessness; pain chronic (back pain). Conclusion: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has an impact on the life activities and thus also on the quality of life of the patient. Especially if the patient is an elderly, the relatives and nurses have the task to provide the patient aid, psychological and physical comfort and support.
