Abstract

Secondary title: ELEMENTARY BALL GAMES AS A TOOL FOR MOTOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Secondary abstract: The bachelor thesis entitled Elementary Ball Games as a Tool for Development of Basic Motor Skills seeks to highlight the cross-cutting relationship between elementary ball games, the development of basic motor skills and systematic and organised PE work of pre-school educators. The thesis established the extent and manner of this interconnection in the practical work of educators who work with pre-school children of five to six years of age. Special attention was paid to elementary ball games as a moderated and systematic activity via which both general and specific basic motor skill development objectives and aims are achieved and implemented. In view of the obtained results, it was demonstrated that general and elementary ball games constitute a frequently selected activity among the educators involved in our survey as well as among highlighted groups of pre-school children. It was, however, concluded that, despite being frequently selected among educators, greater attention should be paid to elementary ball games in terms of educating pre-school children and that a greater understanding thereof would be required.
