diplomska naloga
Abstract

Influence of shading devices on illuminance of indoor spaces |
Secondary abstract: |
This paper is trying to define glazing type of school classrooms in order to achieve optimum energy performance and visual conditions. We analyzed and evaluated effects of orientation, glazing size and its properties, overhangs mounted on various heights and simple sensor controlled shading. Based on the results of the analysis we generated instructions for glazing design for primary schools for the central region of Slovenia in order to achieve optimum energy and visual efficiency of a classroom.
In this thesis, I analyzed the influence of different types of shading devices on the illuminance with daylight of the selected indoor space. The introduction describes the problem which relates to the concept of natural light, its impact on the human visual perceptual mechanism and a rational use of energy. The first part of the thesis presents the literature describing the illumination of the space with natural daylight and different types of shading devices. The following part defines the test office space and the choice of shading devices needed for the accomplishment of the further analysis. For the analysis in the second part of the thesis, two groups of shading devices are defined, these being fixed and movable shading devices. In the case of fixed shading devices, the analysis is made for vertical fins, horizontal overhangs, indoor and outdoor light shelf, sun breakers with horizontal or vertical louvres as well as for a jutting roof with louvres. As for movable shading devices, the analysis is made for shutters, blinds and a shading device named sonro. Based on the acquired results of the analysis, the comparison of the daylight coefficient and the average illuminance of the indoor space for particular types of shading devices on three critical days of the year in case of three typical orientations is made. Moreover, a comparison with pre-defined illumination requirements is made and a compliance with the minimum requirements of regulations and standards related to lighting with daylight is verified. I found out that the analyzed types of shading devices have a very different impact on the illuminance of the indoor space and that for a correct choice, it is necessary to take into consideration a number of parameters. Fixed shading devices have influence on the illuminance of the indoor space throughout the entire year, which to some extent is a weakness, while a proper regulation of movable shading devices enables an easier way to get proper visual conditions in the indoor space throughout the year. According to the results of other analyzed types of shading devices, shading devices with louvres (excluding sonro) are better in terms of achieving visual criteria, because with a proper angle of louvres, it is easier to control the daylight that enters the indoor space. |
