Abstract

Secondary abstract: The purpose of presented diploma, entitled »Finishing procedures for reduction of materials’ UV permeability« was to study the UV permeability of various fabrics treated with the potential UV absorbers, an extract of red pine, according to different processes. I was analyzed five fabrics, made from cotton, polyamide, polyester and cotton blends, with different structure, density, weight and air permeability, because all textiles are not appropriate filter for UV rays. These fabrics were subsequently finished with UV absorber according to padding procedure on foulard and, comparatively, according to exhaustion procedure. All samples were spectrophotometrically evaluated by measuring UV permeability, from which the UPF factor was calculated. I was found that the red pine, used as UV absorber, has a significant impact on the protection against ultraviolet radiation. Its effectiveness is exceedingly dependent on the material, technological procedure and the structure of textiles.
