Abstract

Secondary title: LIGHT POLLUTION IN THE AREA OF MURSKE RAVNINE AND THE WIDER AREA OF GORIČKO
Secondary abstract: In diploma paper the issue of light pollution, which is not present only in Slovenia, but also around the world, is presented. Many of us are not aware of the fact that loss of light from artificial sources (light pollution) pollutes the natural environment and brings numerous negative effects on human health, and leaves consequences with other live creatures on their natural behaviour. We should not forget that mass lighting with artificial light sources increases also consumption and consequently also expenses of electricity. There is still a common belief among people that more lighting of natural environment means progress and development, but such thinking is pretty incorrect. Lighting natural environment is necessary, but only if it is of good quality. The main solution for reduction of light pollution are ecological or shaded lamps, which do not radiate artificial light into the sky and are environmentally and people friendly.
