Abstract

Razpoložljivost prenosnih računalnikov, multi-medijske in brezžične komunikacije, ter sodobne programske opreme, omogoča in celo vzpodbuja temeljne spremembe tradicionalnih procesov upravljanja gradbenih projektov.

Secondary title: Automated construction monitoring with image recognition and building information modeling techniques
Secondary abstract: The availability of portable computers, multimedia and wireless communication, and modern software enables and even encourages fundamental changes to traditional approaches to construction management. The process of construction monitoring is paramount to achieving greater quality and economy of construction projects. This is often a difficult and complicated task due to the ever-changing working environment and because the construction industry has not yet devised a solution for precise, comprehensive and effective tracking of the three-dimensional status of a building under construction. The following thesis examines the problems of traditional monitoring and presents and tests the system of automated construction monitoring based on the process of building information modeling (BIM) and images of the construction process. The system allows for a greater flow of information regarding the progress of construction, thereby enabling project managers to take corrective measures immediately after ascertaining any deviations. The diploma thesis asserts that construction monitoring can be simplified and partly automated. The objective is to identify techniques which could be implemented in tracking and assessing the physical progress of construction. Those techniques are put to the test in an example of the construction of a prefabricated hall.
