Abstract

Secondary title: Nursing care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Secondary abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, autoimmune, systemic inflammatory disease, which particulary affects joints as well as other organ systems (Lestan, 2007, str. 6). In the diploma work we presented rheumatoid arthritis, health care treatment of rheumatoid arthritis patients and with a survey we determined if regular exercise relieves pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, if environmental factors affect occurrence and course of the disease and if rheumatoid arthritis affects the every-day activities. We used descriptive method of work. Through the study of domestic and foreign literature and internet sources, we presented theoretical frameworks. We described rheumatism, risk factors for rheumatism and we also divided it. Emphasis was placed on rheumatoid arthritis, we presented the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, the clinical picture. We described the health care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the role of the nurse, equally advising about a healthy lifestyle. The data we used in the empirical part of the thesis were collected through a survey which was conducted in Društvo revmatikov Slovenije (branch Maribor, Society headquarters Ljubljana). We found out, that regular exercise relieves pain in most of the interviwees and in most of them disease limits their daily activities. The interviewees consider that environmental factors do not affect on the formation and course of the disease.
