diplomsko delo
Abstract
V diplomski nalogi obravnavam morfometrično variabilnost lobanje glodavcev rodov Nesokia in Bandicota. V analizo sem vključil 91 osebkov petih vrst bandikot: Bunijeva kratkorepa bandikota (Nesokia bunnii), kratkorepa bandikota (Nesokia indica), mala bandikota (Bandicota bengalensis), velika bandikota (Bandicota indica) in Savilejeva bandikota (Bandicota savilei). S pomočjo geometrijske morfometrije sem analiziral razlike v obliki in velikosti lobanj, sekundarni spolni dimorfizem in variabilnost med vrstami. Na ventralni strani lobanje bandikot sem določil 20 oslonilnih točk, na katerih je temeljila nadaljnja analiza. Vrsti Nesokia indica in Nesokia bunnii sem izvzel iz analize sekundarnega spolnega dimorfizma (SSD) zaradi pomanjkljivih podatkov o spolu oziroma premajhnega vzorca. Izoblikovali sta se dve ekomorfološki funkcionalni skupini: manjše terestrične (N. indica, B.bengalensis in B. savilei) in večji semiakvatični vrsti (N. bunnii in B. indica). Pri semiakvatičnih vrstah je lobanja relativno ožja od povprečja, pri terestričnih vrstah pa relativno širša.

Morphometric variability of the skull genus Nesokia and Bandicota |
Secondary abstract: |
This thesis is about morphometric variability of the skull of rodents in genus Nesokia and Bandicota. I have analyzed 91 specimens of five bandicoot rat species: Bunn's short-tailed bandicoot rat (Nesokia bunnii), Short-tailed bandicoot rat (Nesokia indica), Lesser bandicoot rat (Bandicota bengalensis), Greater bandicoot rat (Bandicota indica) and Savile's bandicoot rat (Bandicota savilei). I used geometric morphometry to analyze the differences in shape and size of the skulls, secondary sexual dimorphism and variability between species. I have placed 20 landmarks to the ventral side of each skull, which was the basis for further analysis. I excluded Nesokia indica and Nesokia bunnii from the analysis of the secondary sexual dimorphism (SSD) due to insufficient data about gender or insufficient sample. With the other three species SSD in size has not been expressed, therefore I have combined the genders for further analysis. SSD in shape has been expressed only in the Bandicota bengalensis species. Variability across species has been expressed in size and shape. Two eco-morphological groups were formed: small terrestrial species (N. indica, B. bengalensis and B. savilei) and larger semi-aquatic species (N. bunnii and B. indica). Compared to average skull shape the semi-aquatic group has relatively narrower and terrestrial group relatively broader skull. |
