ISO 14001 kot orodje za doseganje trajnostnega razvoja organizacije

Abstract

Namen diplomskega dela je proučiti dosedanja spoznanja na področju proučevanja vpeljave standarda ISO 14001 ter analizirati prednosti, ki jih standard lahko prinese organizaciji. Del diplomskega dela temelji na kritični analizi dosedanjih spoznanj iz literature. V aplikativnem delu diplome predvidevamo izvedbo konceptualne zasnove modela nadgradnje obstoječe verzije standarda ISO 14001. Priložnost obravnavane teme se izkazuje v tem, da nam poda bolj specifičen vpogled v mehanizme vpeljave standarda ISO 14001. Ravno tako diplomsko delo obravnava standard ISO 14001 v luči trajnostnega razvoja organizacije. Rezultati v diplomskem delu so podani v obliki pregleda literature s področja sistemov ravnanja z okoljem. Identificirali smo ključne korake vpeljave standarda ISO 14001, izvedli smo primerjalno analizo aktualne in prihajajoče verzije standarda. Diplomsko delo ravno tako predlaga okvir za izvedbo analize razkoraka, ki je organizacijam lahko v pomoč pri nadgradnji obstoječe verzije standarda ISO 14001:2004 v novo verzijo ISO 14001:2015. Organizacija naj bi z vpeljavo nove verzije standarda izboljšala komunikacijo na vseh ravneh v podjetju, sistematično identificirala in obvladovala tveganja ter izboljšala sistem merjenja učinkovitosti in uspešnosti na področju varstva okolja. Od nove verzije standarda lahko predvidevamo večji prispevek/učinek na doseganje ciljev trajnostnega razvoja. V tem kontekstu predvidevamo, da bo prihajajoča verzija standarda zmanjšala nekatere pomanjkljivosti obstoječe verzije, še zlasti tiste, povezane z družbenimi vidiki trajnostnega razvoja organizacije, kot tudi tiste, povezane s strateško vključitvijo okoljskih in širših s trajnostnim razvojem povezanih vprašanj.

Secondary abstract:	The purpose of the thesis is to examine the lessons learned in the field of studying the introduction of ISO 14001 and to analyze the advantages that the standard can bring to the organization. Partially the thesis is based on a critical analysis of the lessons learned in literature, while in the applicable part of the thesis the comparison between the ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 14001:2015 is performed as well as suggestions for the upgrading of the existing version of the standard are illustrated. The opportunity of the topic is manifested in the fact that we are given a more specific insight into the mechanisms of the introduction of ISO 14001. The thesis also addresses the ISO 14001 in the light of the corporate sustainability. The results in the thesis are given in the form of a literature review in the field of the environmental management systems. In this regard we have identified key steps of ISO 14001 implementation as well as we have carried out a comparative analysis of the current and upcoming version of the standard. Additionally, gap analysis framework is provided to support the organization's effort in upgrading the current version of the standard. Alongside with the upcoming version of the ISO 14001 standard the organization is expected to improve communication at all levels, to systematically address and manage risks and to better support the environmental performance measurement system. From the new version of the standard we expect a greater contribution/impact on achieving the objectives of the sustainable development. As such, it is expected that the upcoming version of the ISO 14001 will diminish some drawbacks of the current version of the standard, espceially those related to the social aspects of the corporate sustainability and those related to the strategic incorporation of the environmental and wider sustainability issues.
