Abstract

Secondary title: SOURCES OF INFORMATION IN JOURNALISM
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the diploma thesis is to explore the public’s view of journalistic work, with an emphasis on the sources of information, which create journalistic articles. One of component elements of every journalistic article is sources of information, so their relevance must bestressed. It is a fact that journalists can create a quality piece only if they are provided with quality sources of information. The main emphasis of the diploma thesis is on anonymous sources; on sources, which are emotionally or personally involved in the story, and the ones, which are the most credible in the public’s opinion. The research revealed that the addresseesare not aware of the power that the sources of information have on the creation of journalistic pieces. We learned that to the public the most credible sources are experts from a specific area, which is discussed in an article, because, according to the public’s opinion, they deliver only verifiable facts and reliable information. On the other hand, there are sources, which are emotionally and personally involved in the story. The public doesn’t trust these sources, because they deliver subjective information on the basis of their emotions. Likewise, the public doesn’t trust anonymous sources, because the addressees are unable to create their own opinion about the person delivering the information. This makes people wonder why the source decided to be anonymous, and may lead to the mistrust of journalist work.
