Abstract

Temu sledi podrobnejša opredelitev zasnove zunanjščine in notranjščine, namembnosti in simbolične vrednosti posameznih delov arhitekturne celote.

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂPalace of the Count Ignaz Maria Attems in Graz and the Baroque representational architecture on Sackstrasse
Secondary abstract: This diploma thesis focuses on the art-historical study of the architecture of the City Palace of Ignaz Maria Count of Attems in Graz. Firstly, a clear definition of Baroque Architecture is represented followed by the representation of the Baroque Representational Building's role and the patterns for building city palaces. The main theme of the diploma thesis is the architectural study of the Palace Attems, which brings the contracting entity and the architect question to the fore. Two important names are frequently mentioned in the literature relating to the building of the palace in Graz: Joachim Carlone (1653-1713) and Andreas Stengg (1660-1741). Afterwards, the study focuses on a detailed construction analysis, including the constructional development of the palace, its integration in the urban space, an overview of the architectural condition and the presentation of the ground plan of the building. Furthermore, a more detailed definition of the exterior and interior design, follows as well as the purpose and the symbolic value of individual parts of the architectural entirety. The paintings and sculptures of the Palace Attems, which form "a total work of art" (Gesamtkunstwerk, are also considered in the presentation. Finally, The Palace Attems is being dealt with the comparitive method, namely in the context of Barouqe representative buildings on Sackstraße in the old city center of Graz (the Palace Herberstein, Palace Kellersberg, Palace Khuenburg and Witwepalais also known as "the small Attems Palace"). Since the diploma thesis is the art-historical study, the text is accompanied by plans and other pictorial matter for visualization purposes.
