Abstract

Secondary title: Slovene-German translation analysis of the ABC-brochure of the hotel City Maribor
Secondary abstract: The Master's thesis Slovene-German translation analysis of the ABC-brochure of the hotel City Maribor focuses on the adequacy and the professionalism of its translation as well as the translation strategies according to the specific professional text. Tourist texts are a type of popular reading material, which according to a layman do not require a competent translator due to common belief that such %simple texts% can be translated by anyone who knows the foreign language. We have dealt with the problem of translation hotel terminology, which should maintain a marketing as well as an informative text design. In the theoretical part, the specific terminology of tourism is presented, especially tourism discourse with an emphasis on cultural components in the German translation. We also relied on Skopos theory, which gives priority to the purpose of a text and the target readership, and presented different translation strategies as well as processes according to Nord. The empirical part consists of the analysis, where the differences and inadequacies between the source text and the translation are shown. For individual examples translation solutions are offered.
