diplomsko delo
Abstract

Newspaper propaganda from the Great War with emphasis on the Isonzo Front |
Secondary abstract: |
This thesis presents the propaganda intended for Slovenian audience that was published in newspapers Slovenec, Slovenski narod, Ilustrirani glasnik, and Tedenske slike during the First World War. The newspapers' content was statistically analysed according to its provenance, the delay in publication, and the presence of censorship. Thus, the essential propaganda characteristics of the Slovenian printed media at the time of the Isonzo Front were established. Presented are the individual propaganda topics and motifs characteristic of the Slovenian printed media between 23rd May 1915 and 24th October 1917 and for the representation of the events taking place in the area between the town of Grado (Gradež) and the Mount Rombon, and as well for the so-called regions of "Army in the Field" (Armee im Felde), i. e. the civilian regions under military government. Motifs are analysed according to the circumstances in both domestic and foreign affairs of the time and according to the purpose for which they were implemented. Those emphasised are the ones that were more commonly used by the Slovenian authors. The findings of the research are contrasted with both the characteristics of the Entente propaganda, which is more commonly mentioned when discussing the war in question, as well as with the modern principles of propaganda which have been established on the basis of the latter after the Great War. |
