Secondary abstract: | Thesis presents a comparison of analytical and numerical calculation of polygonal connections. Analytical calculation is based on theoretical-empirical equations from standard, while numerical calculation was performed with finite element method using Abaqus FEA software package. Calculations were made on two standard profiles (three and four sided configuration) of polygonal connections with the same nominal diameter. Comparison showed that the numerical results corresponded well to the analytical results, except on a small area in close proximity to the edge, where numerical error can be neglected. |
