diplomsko delo

Abstract

Sestavili smo primerne dejavnosti in jih izvedli. Pridobili so spretnosti oziroma veščine merjenja in rokovanja s termometri. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da so se otroci ob dejavnostih naučili veliko novega o temperaturi.

Secondary title: Teaching temperature in pre-school education
Secondary abstract: Activities, which enable preschool children to explore temperature, thermometers, and heat in general are presented in this thesis. Children's cognitive development and development of speech is described, as teachers have to be aware of the child's developmental stage, its characteristics and child's abilities to properly plan the activities for the children. This is described in the theoretical part of the thesis. In the second part our research about knowledge of temperature in preschool children is presented. Through interviews we have found out what children actually knew about temperature and designed activities to broaden their experience with estimating and measuring temperature. Activities also offered opportunities to familiarise numbers and temperature measurement units (degrees Celsius) and values of the temperatures they encounter on a daily basis: Water freezing temperature (0 °C), constant body temperature (37 °C), temperature of the drinks they usually have (28 °C), and the temperature of boiling water (100 °C). Planned activities also included temperature measurement with different thermometers to improve their measuring skills. They acquired skills and the skills of measurement and handling of thermometers. Results of the interviews after the activities showed that children have learned a lot about the temperature.
