diplomsko delo
Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava vlogo starih staršev v razširjeni družini in je razdeljeno na dva dela: na teoretični in empirični del. V teoretičnem delu smo pozornost namenili družini in starim staršem.

Secondary abstract: |
The purpose of this dissertation was to discuss the role of grandparents in an extended families. The dissertation is divided into two part: the theoretical and the empirical part. In the theoretical part, the focus is on family and grandparents. We described the definition of the term "family", the types and tasks of families, as well as different stages in family lives. Furthermore, we described the characteristics of families in modern and in current post-modern era, as well as the current types of families in modern Slovenian society. Next, we discussed the topic of senescence, oldness and the role of grandparents in an extended families. In the empirical part of the dissertation, we explained the role of grandparents in an extended families, discussed grandparents' educational effects on their grandchildren, their role in grandchildren's schooling and their involvement in homework. In the empirical part of the dissertation, we carried out a survey, using a questionnaire, in order to establish the differences between the roles of grandparents in an extended families living in a city and the roles of grandparents in an extended families living in the country. We also wanted to examine the effects of grandparents' education and profession on their grandchildren's learning and to examine grandparents' involvement in homework. In addition, our purpose was to establish whether the grandparents in current post-modern Slovenian society are mostly retired, how they help their children's families and whether, at least occasionally, there are conflicts between grandparents and their children when it comes to raising their grandchildren. |
