Abstract

Secondary title: Managing risk in civil engineering projects in case of the construction of pump storage power plant Kozjak
Secondary abstract: Projects are always exposed to project risks which can be defined as an uncertain event that, if it occurs, has a mainly negative on project goals: deadlines, costs, quality. Exposure to project risks is a logical consequence of the fact that projects greatly depend on the future which is in itself uncertain. Larger, technically complex projects as civil engineering projects are characterized by great financial investments, long duration and a high number of participants, are especially vulnerable. For a successful realization of such projects it is necessary that project risks are managed by the investor and their project team; this means that they are able to recognize such risks, evaluate their probability and the effect they could have on the goals of the project, as well as implement measures to prevent and/or mitigate the negative consequences of such risks. A systematic approach to risk management is a type of project risk management based on careful consideration and analysis of project risks and a deliberate response to them. The purpose of this master's thesis is to present a general approach to risk management which can be used by project management teams for their projects thus ensuring a more successful project realization.
